Winning the Kuskokwim 300 for the rst time was a dream come true. It had been I think 29 years since someone from Bethel had won the race – and nobody born in the region had ever won. It’s hard for me to even consider myself a role model. I think it’s great that people can look up to me or somebody like me, and if that helps them feel like they can accomplish something that maybe they didn’t feel like they could accomplish before, then I think that’s great – because a lot needs to be done to help kids set goals for themselves and work to achieve those goals; to have pride in themselves and in what they do.
